Last night when I checked my Twitter one last time before going to bed, I saw that Obama just announced that he would be visiting Cuba on March 21. Yes, Obama will be the second US president to visit Cuba since Calvin Coolidge in 1928 but there is a bigger issue that a lot of people aren't talking about--the timeframe.
On March 23, the Colombian Government will be hosting one of the final peace talks with the FARC. Raul Castro has been in full support of the Colombian peace negotiation. For the past five decades, the FARC has terrorized and murdered innocent lives in Colombia along with trafficking hundreds of thousands of dollars in drugs.
I'll be giving the full timeline report of the significance of the peace deals with the FARC and Colombian Government but knowing how big of the involvement so stay tuned for that. The battle between the Colombian Government and the FARC has been a 50 year struggle but there are dangers in assimilating terrorists into the government.
Anyway, the question is, will Obama's visit to Cuba play any role in the peace talks between the Colombian and the FARC?
As a reminder, a negotiation isn't always the best decision when it's making a deal with the devil.
